Ferroplan Oy strengthens collaboration with Metsä Group

Two significant deliveries to the new Metsä Group mill project

Ferroplan Oy has announced two major deliveries to Metsä Group’s new Kerto LVL mill in Äänekoski. This development highlights the strong collaboration between these two industry leaders.

Ferroplan Oy will deliver a debarking and cutting line designed to handle sorted logs. Before debarking, the logs undergo through inspection to ensure high-quality raw material at the beginning of the process. After debarking, the logs are cut to specified lengths, and the resulting timber is transferred to the hatchery area.

In addition, Ferroplan Oy has signed an agreement to deliver a side product handling line. The line is designed to process a variety of materials. This includes waste veneer, veneer core, and wood waste generated during the production process. Two lines are processing wood waste. After screening, we separate the fractions and place them into individual silos for future use..

“When we learned about Metsä Group ‘s new Äänekoski project, we realized that we have the best solution for these lines. During the bidding phase, we dedicated a significant amount of time to planning for the factory.” Jyrki Rusinen, Sales Manager of Ferroplan’s sawmill and forest industry, emphasizes that the collaborative spirit of our negotiations will undoubtedly reflect in the outcome.”

Metsä Group delivery is the largest in Ferroplan’s history

Valued at approximately € 8 million, this delivery is the largest in Ferroplan’s history. The company plans to start delivering the debarking and cutting line, along with the side product handling line, in the first quarter of 2025. The team plans to commission the lines by the end of the same year. This delivery enhances Ferroplan’s reputation as a reliable partner for the forest industry. It also supports Metsä Group’s production by providing efficient material handling.

“We take pride in being selected for one of Metsä Group’s most significant current investment projects. Ferroplan’s products and solutions fit perfectly with the project’s needs, enhancing efficiency and reliability in material handling. This order, the largest in our 40-year history, is a statement of Ferroplan’s ability to deliver large-scale solutions. Not flimsy,” says Antti Rousku, CEO of Ferroplan.
